Nov 1st 2021. RIP Maestro.
Had the pleasure and good fortune to have known and learned much from Pat personally since the 1970's. Pre and post surgery.

My wife and I took a road trip from Northern NJ to Philly on October 31. Remembering that Pat was suffering, his image popped into my head and remained there all day. I mentioned to my wife that he lived in Philly and we chatted about my love for Pat's music and outlook on life given his condition. I then heard the news on Monday. Perhaps he remained in my head and heart for a reason that day. I love you Pat and will miss you. Be well and I will see you playing on the other side one day. -DHO

I met Pat between sets at a show that he was doing at the Iridium around 2002 or so. I was standing near the stage and wondering out loud to a friend about his rig. Pat must have overheard the conversation and was kind enough to take the time, come over to us and explain everything in detail about his setup. What else can I say? His music has been a huge influence on my playing (I'm not alone there)and his kindness will never be forgotten. God Bless Pat Martino. He made the world a better place. R.I.P.

Patrick was a classmate of mine at Annunciation Elementary School in South Philadelphia in the 1950's. He was adorable and very nice to me always. My son and my grandson are great fans of his wonderful work and admire the character he showed during his recovery from such a tragic medical issue.

Rest in Peace, Patrick. ❤️

Pat was one of my teachers in GIT Hollywood in 1980. Already a legend, he couldn't have been nicer. We all loved him. His wisdom and insight penetrated to my soul, where there's now a hole since he's gone. Everyone on this site, and millions more around the world know he was a GREAT Jazz Guitar Player, perhaps the greatest ever. And yet, he was a GREATER person.

Pat, you have been and will continue to be an inexhaustible source of inspiration, as an artist, as a thinker and above all as a unique human being. Thank you, formidable man

I am heart broken to hear of Pat's passing, my deepest sympathy to all of the family and especially to Pat's wife.
I have loved Pat's music all of my life, I first heard him in my early teens and I haven't stopped listening since. He is a true artist a master of his craft who could convey emotion and touch your soul.
I had the privilege of meeting him once when he came to London and I went to see him perform, he was walking around before the gig started and I approached him, I wanted to say hello and tell him how much his music meant to me, I was nervous approaching him but he immediately extended a warm handshake and thanked me for coming to see him play we then talked for about ten minutes and I couldn't believe I was talking to Pat Martino this giant of a guitarist with an amazing speaking voice and an enormous kind warm heart.
I'll say a rosary for Pat and his family we will all miss him.

I;m deeply saddened to hear about Pat's passing and send my condolences. I recently started studying Pat's REH series that I was lucky enough to find online as it takes off where my other studies ended. I have found his lessons to be of the highest quality in terms of distilling and sharing his wealth of guitar knowledge. Pat is really a new hero to me though I have been familiar with his work for years. It's only recently that I was I suppose ready for the information. I'm truly grateful that he was such a master of his art and sharing the building blocks withother musicians. He has opened some doors for me that I certainly couldn't find the doorknob to before! Bless you and your family. My deep appreciation and friendship, Wyatt Mims

So sorry to hear about Pat's passing, growing up a neighbor of Pat's (our backyards adjacent to each other) our family really enjoyed Pat's playing over the years. It was a privlege to have known Pat and his family and proud that such a great musician and person came from our neighborhood in South Philly.

My deepest condolences and heart felt prayers to Pats family and Ayako. I got to spend time with Pat as a teenager studying and then later as an adult I would always try and "stop in" to say hi. Pat was brilliant beyond words and in a myriad of ways. He helped me become an artist by example and because of him I always in 'live in the now" RIP Maestro and thank you for everything
